National T20 Cup: Balochistan beat Southern Punjab by 16-run

MULTAN (92 News) – Balochistan defeated Southern Punjab by 16-run in the ninth game of the National T20 Cup in Multan.

Shan Masood’s side, chasing a mammoth 231-run target, were restricted to 214-6. They have lost all of their four games in the tournament so far.

The captain made 72 off 42 balls after hitting nine boundaries and three sixes.

He was supported by Khushdil Shah who also scored 72 with seven boundaries and four maximums in 34 deliveries.

They put on a 103-run partnership for the third wicket but it wasn’t enough for the side to get over the line.

Pacer Akif Javed was returned with figures of 3-35 in four overs.

Balochistan, electing to bat first, finished posted a huge total of 230-4 thanks to half-centuries by opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq and captain Haris Sohai.

The batsman played a brilliant 94-run knock which lasted 54 deliveries. It included 10 boundaries and four sixes.

The Balochistan captain scored 53 off 27 deliveries with the help of seven fours and two maximums.

Mohammad Irfan, Rahat Ali and Hussain Talat bagged a wicket each.

Southern Punjab are yet to win a game in this year’s competition. They are heading into the fixture on the back of a six-run defeat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
