Nawaz, Maryam & Safdar seek removal of names from ECL

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain Safdar have written a letter to Interior Ministry seeking removal of their names from the exit control list (ECL). As per details, the PML-N supreme leader requested the ministry to remove their names from the no fly list. The letter adopted a stance that these steps are the violation of Article 4, 15 and 25. The letter stated that no court has given the order to place their names in the ECL. The letter also said that the Accountability Court acquitted trio accused in the corruption references. The letter further stated that Sharif family members surrendered by themselves for their arrest and submitted surety bonds in the court for appearance on the hearings. The letter demanded from the ministry to put off their names from the ECL. Earlier, the trio had submitted a formal request to the effect to the ministry on Oct 4 which was not entertained till date. Currently, they submitted request again for not response from the Interior Ministry. It be reminded that Nawaz, Maryam, Safdar had been placed on ECL following their conviction in Avenfield Reference from NAB court which handed down jail terms to them. However, their sentences were suspended on their plea by Islamabad High Court and they have been released till final decision of the case.
