Nawaz refuses to go to hospital as Maryam demands ‘life-saving unit’ in jail

LAHORE (92 News) – Maryam Nawaz, daughter of incarcerated prime minister Nawaz Sharif, demanded ‘life saving unit’ in jail as her father continues to refuse to be shifted to a hospital to receive treatment for his worsening cardiac health. According to the details, former chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz called on the three-time prime minister at Kot Lakhpat Jail on Friday. After the meeting, Maryam Nawaz again failed to convince Nawaz Sharif to get admitted to a hospital for treatment. She took a twitter and said according to cardiologists sent by the government to examine Sharif on Thursday, the former premier's heart disease has worsened. In these circumstances, she requested the Jail authorities to establish an immediate life saving unit on the Jail premises. “Just met MNS. Since he hasn’t agreed to be shifted to the hospital & his heart disease has worsened (according to cardiologists sent by the govt to examine him y’day), I request the Jail authorities to establish an immediate resuscitation and life saving unit on Jail premises,” Maryam tweeted. In another tweet, she said, “Being a 3 times Prime Minister & leader of biggest political party & of millions of people, this is the least he deserves.” On the other hand, former foreign minister Khawaja Asif and Sharif’s personal doctor Adnan also visited jailed PML-N leader along with the medicines needed for medical treatment of the PML-N supremo. Sharif’s personal doctor said that the ailing leader needs immediate treatment for cardiac disease.
Nawaz declines to be shifted to hospital
Earlier, imprisoned former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has declined to be shifted to hospital from Kot Lakhpat jail. According to the sources, the prime minister had directed to move the former prime minister to the hospital in view of his health condition. It was reported that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar directed to shift Nawaz Sharif to Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) on the direction PM Khan. Meanwhile, the arrangements were completed in the PIC and Hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) said that all the facilities will be provided to the patient. However, the sources said that ousted prime minister refused to be shifted to the PIC. The government had earlier finalized arrangements to move Sharif back to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. The team of doctors, comprising Prof Nadeem Hayat, Prof Shahid Hamed, and Prof Khalil, was also on alert to treat the ex-PM.
PML-N expresses concern over deteriorating health of Sharif
On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leaders have also been expressing concerns over deteriorating health of Sharif. The parliamentary party meeting of PML-N leaders was held in the National Assembly (NA) During the meeting, they expressed concern for not providing medical facilities to Nawaz Sharif and they said condemned the Punjab government’s move which came under the influence of the prime minister. PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the government is playing the politics card on the health of Nawaz Sharif. “If anything happened with the former premier in jail, then the prime minister and other ministers will be liable for this,” he added.
