Nawaz, Shahbaz submitted themselves to court as guarantees: AG
November 18, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan said that both former premier Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shehbaz Sharif have submitted themselves to the court as guarantees. Addressing a press conference along with Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar, the attorney general said that by placing Nawaz and Shehbaz themselves as guarantees, they can be and will be exposed. The AG also said the court would hear the PML-N petition further only if the Sharif brothers confirmed the permission would be a one-time for a specific time period. “Both of these things were incorporated by the court in its judgement from the cabinet decision,” he maintained. Mansoor Khan also mentioned that the undertakings sought by the court showed that it did not believe that the Sharif brothers would comply with the conditions without a written assurance. The AG said that the condition of indemnity bonds imposed by the government was under judicial scrutiny. “This meant that the issue had not reached finality and would be decided by the court later,” he added. “The LHC order is stronger and more potent than the indemnity bonds sought by the government, because instead of the government having to go to civil courts to execute the bonds, both Sharif brothers have submitted undertakings before the LHC,” AG Mansoor Khan said.
Violation of undertaking will be a serious crime
On the occasion, Shahzad Akbar said that if Nawaz Sharif violates the undertaking that he had given to the court about returning to the country, it would be taken as a serious crime. “The court did not reject the indemnity bond condition-it suspended it and replaced it with an undertaking,” the special assistant maintained.  He said that the government had kept the indemnity bond condition so as to obtain a guarantee from Nawaz that he would return to the country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnQPdJ36-CQ On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif is likely to leave for treatment in London on Tuesday. Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that an air ambulance for the transportation of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will arrive in the country on Tuesday. “The PML-N quid will leave for medical treatment to abroad on Tuesday,” she added. Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the doctors conducted a thorough examination of Sharif today and also held discussions on how to make the PML-N supremo ready for his travel. She also urged the nation to pray for the PML-N supremo’s health on party’s twitter account.
