ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday decided to appear before it in person to the Supreme Court in suo motu case pertaining to the illegal construction of shops on the land of Pakpattan’s shrine in 1985. According to the reports, the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) supreme leader will appear before the top court at 9am morning. Earlier, the Supreme Court (SC) fixed suo motu case pertaining to the illegal construction of shops on the land of Pakpattan’s shrine in 1985 for hearing on December 4. The apex court summoned Nawaz Sharif in a case pertaining to the transfer of land of the Pakpattan shrine in 1985. The case was heard by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar. The case concerns the illegal construction of shops on the land and the transfer of 8,000 kanals to Dewan Ghulam Qutab in 1985. Nawaz Sharif was the chief minister of Punjab province when the land belonging to the Auqaf department was transferred. In the last hearing of the case, the court was informed that 8,000 kanals of land of the Pakpattan shrine was sold to Dewan Ghulam Qutab as per an order in 1985, but the Auqaf department later declared it a charitable endowment.
