LAHORE (92 News) – Capt (retd) Safdar said that Nawaz Sharif has directed the PML-N workers to participate in the Azadi March to be launched by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazalur Rahman.
Talking to the media after meeting Nawaz Sharif in Kot Lakhpat jail on Thursday, he said that Maulana Fazalur Rahman would lead the nation. “It is not the sit-in, but Azadi March,” he said.
Capt (retd) Safdar said that Shehbaz Sharif could not meet his elder brother due to backache. “Nawaz Sharif has written a letter to Maulana Fazalur Rahman from jail and assured of the participation of his party,” he said.
He said that the march is against the 70-year-old system that didn’t let the country make progress. “We have thrice stated that the PML-N will participate in the Azadi March,” he said.
Capt (retd) Safdar said that the march would be against Tahaffuz-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwat, supremacy of the constitution, poverty and price-hike.
JUI-F seeks formal permission to hold ‘Azadi March’ at D Chowk
On October 9, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) has applied formally to seek permission from the Islamabad administration to hold its “Azadi March” at D-Chowk in Islamabad on October 27.
JUI-F leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor submitted an application with the chief commissioner for carrying out anti-government protest campaign ‘Azadi March’.
The JUI-F leader, through his counsel Kamran Murtaza, submitted an application to Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmad, asking for approval to hold the march as well as security arrangements for participants.
In the application, the JUI-F has stated that the party owns the democratic and constitutional right of holding protests. “The JUI-F will be holding the Azadi March on October 27, 2019 at D-Chowk, Islamabad, exercising its democratic and Constitutional right under Articles 16 and 17 of the Constitution against the incumbent government,” reads the application.
