LAHORE (92 News) – Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif was not allowed to cast his vote for by election in NA-124 constituency of Lahore. As per reports, the disqualified prime minister arrived at Government College of Science and Technology polling station but was unable to cast his vote. Nawaz Sharif was not allowed to cast his vote because he did not have his national identity card. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is the PML-N candidate in this constituency and the seat was won by Hamza Shehbaz Sharif in the 2018 general election. As many as 375 candidates are in the race for the by-elections. Over 7,400 polling stations have been set up for the by polls. Of these, 1,727 have been categorized as highly sensitive. Sensitive polling stations are being supervised through CCTV cameras. The by-elections is being conducted for 11 each seats of National and provincial assemblies in Punjab, nine seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two each seats of Sindh and Balochistan. Overseas Pakistanis casted their vote for the first time in the by-polls. The ECP has established a control room for the guidance of Overseas Pakistanis. In a statement, the ECP advised the overseas Pakistanis, who have not yet received voting password, to contact the control room at 0092512778899. It said that voters would not be allowed to cast their votes without password.
