LAHORE (92 News) – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is serving seven-year term in Kot Lakhpat jail, has expressed his concern over an increase in the dollar price after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout package. During a meeting with PML-N leaders on Thursday, he said that the dollar rate should have not been increased after the IMF bailout package. “The people are worried about the inflation and we should become the voice of the people,” he said. Nawaz Sharif asked the party leaders to expedite people-contact campaign and organize the party at the union council level. To a question about his health, Nawaz Sharif said: “Alhamdullilah, I am fine and observing fasts regularly.” Sources said that Ahsan Iqbal has been assigned the task of the people-contact campaign. The party leaders briefed him about the country’s situation. Meanwhile, PML-N workers planted saplings outside Kot Lakhpat jail for Prime Minister Imran Khan. MPA Mirza Javed said that PTI workers would sit under the shade of these plants when they would come to meet Imran Khan.

Earlier in a statement, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has said that the venues of progress and prosperity were opening in the period of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. She said that the ‘fake’ government had mortgaged with the International Monetary Fund. Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Imran Khan did not commit suicide on the bailout package from the IMF, but took a U-turn on the amnesty scheme. Meanwhile, the PPP has also rejected the amnesty scheme. PPP leader Nafeesa Shah said that Imran Khan is giving amnesty to his ‘benami’ financers.
IMF deal ‘complete sell-out’ of country’s sovereignty: Maryam
Responding to the bailout package of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz said that IMF deal complete sell-out the national sovereignty. The PML-N leader strongly criticized the agreement between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government and IMF. She took her twitter and said, “IMF or no IMF – the incompetent rulers were not sure. Finally when it does come, it’s a complete sell out of our sovereignty and rightly REJECTED by the stock market. After just 9 months, country is on the brink of economic disaster.”
