LAHORE (92 News) - An accountability court in Lahore on Monday indicted former premier Nawaz Sharif’s principal secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad and three members of his family in assets beyond means case. Accountability Judge Muhammad Akmal read out charges to Fawad, Rubab Hassan, Waqar Hassan, and Anjum Hassan. They denied the charges and opted to contest them. The court issued notices to prosecution witnesses to appear in personal capacity to record their testimonies. Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted bail to Former principal secretary to prime minister Fawad Hassan Fawad in the assets beyond income case. A two member bench of the LHC heard the bail plea of the former premier’s principal secretary. Fawad Hassan Fawad’s lawyer argued that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) could not prove any allegations against his client. The lawyer also said that the NAB alleged that Fawad owns commercial plaza worth of five billion rupees. “Now the bureau says family of Fawad Hassan Fawad own total assets worth of Rs1 billion 80 million,” he added. The defence lawyer further argued that Fawad has no property on his name then the anti-graft watchdog body alleged that his wife and brother have the ‘benami’ assets. Later, the court granted bail to the former premier principal secretary on behalf of Rs10 million surety bonds.
