ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was shifted to Adiala prison, Rawalpindi on Monday after sentenced seven years in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference case. Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik sentenced former premier Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia while acquitted in Flagship Investment references. The court also fined him US$25 million. After the verdict, Nawaz Sharif was arrested. After the verdict, he was taken into custody from the court room by the NAB officials. He has been shifted to the Adiala prison amid stringent security, where he would spend the night and would be transferred to Kot Lakhpat jail on Tuesday (tomorrow). Earlier today, Nawaz heard the verdict against him in the courtroom and appealed the court for ordering shifting him to Kot Lakhpat prison in Lahore instead of Adiala jail, Rawalpindi. The NAB prosecutor opposed Nawaz’s plea, but the court reserved its verdict on the appeal of former premier. Announcing the verdict later, the accountability court ordered shifting Nawaz to Kot Lakhpat jail.
