ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Nehal Hashmi has on Tuesday while taking a u-turn asked Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani not to accept his resignation.

Nehal Hashmi called on Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani at his chamber in upper house.

He had relinquished his seat in the House after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took notice of his threatening speech against officials of Panama Leaks Joint Investigation Team and the judiciary.

Talking to media outside the upper house, PML-N Senator Mushahidullah Khan said that the party’s lawmakers are not favoring Nehal Hashmi taking back his resignation.

He urged former PML-N leader to abide by party leadership’s guidelines on the matter.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court had ordered PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi to submit the reply to his threatening speech by June 16.

The SC three-member bench heard the contempt of court case. Nehal Hashmi contended that he had not received the transcript of the speech.

Talking to media after the hearing on Monday, he said that he could not think of insulting the judiciary.

He said that Imran Khan had distorted his speech and he too is a co-accused. “A conspiracy has been hatched against me. Imran Khan had also hurled threats to the judiciary and he should also be tried,” he added.

Hashmi said that a force wants the clash of the institution. “I fear God. I am a patriot. I cannot be punished unless a crime is proved against me,” he said.

Earlier, former PML-N senator was served show-cause notice for the speech by the Supreme Court.
