ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said that he had neither received a kickback nor touched corruption. Talking to the media after the court reserved judgment in the Flagship and Al-Azizia references on Wednesday, he said that the world is witness to his performance. “Is it a reward for my service?” he said. He said that this was his 78th appearance in this case and in the one before we had appeared 87 times. “This was a very painful [experience].” The former premier said: "I have been serving the people for 35 years. I have been the chief minister twice and the prime minister thrice. I thank the party leaders and workers who expressed solidarity with me on each hearing. The nation’s prayers have been with me.” Earlier in courtroom, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said that not a penny's corruption was proven against him. Narrating achievements during his tenure, he said that they eliminated terrorism and inflation. “We revived the economy. The world used to acknowledge country’s stock market. We made the country an atomic power,” he said. Nawaz Sharif said that all proceedings are going on the basis of assumptions and rumours. He ended his conversation with the verse by Faiz Ahmed Faiz,” Jo Hum Pe Guzari So Guzri Magar Shab-e-Hijran/Humaray Ashak Teri Aqbat Sanwar Chalay [Ignore whatever we tolerated. But our tears have made the end of the night of separation successful]”.
