NEPRA likely to increase power rates by Rs.70 per unit

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Wednesday likely to increase power tariff Rs.70 by Rs.70 per unit. As per details, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) filed an petition to the NEPRA, requesting to increase power tariff by Rs0.70 per unit for the month of July 2018. However, the NEPRA accepted the petition of CPPA for hearing. Earlier, the NEPRA turned down the plea of the federal government to increase power tariff and cut electricity rates by Rs1.86 per unit instead on account of fuel adjustment for the month of March 2018. The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had filed a petition, requesting to increase power tariff by Rs0.4437 per unit based on weighted average reference fuel cost of FY2015-16. Six month before The NEPRA has announced a Rs 3.11 per unit reduction in electricity rates in 28 December, 2017.
