NEPRA likely to increase power tariff by Rs4.33 per unit

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is likely to increase power tariff by Rs4.33 per unit.

After arguments, the NEPRA has reserved its verdict on the basis of monthly fuel adjustment. If it gets approved, consumers will have extra burden of Rs29 billion. The NEPRA chairman has directed to share closure schedule of all power plants with the NEPRA.

The Power Division high-ups said that 14 percent of electricity consumption increased in November. The NEPRA chairman has said that the consumers who receive high bills they shall contact to their local office. “I got astonished when I saw my electricity bill. My bill of fuel price adjustment was very high.”

In a message on Twitter, PPP leader Sherry Rehman said that the government is about to increase power tariff by Rs4.33 per unit. Consumers will get extra burden of more than Rs40 billion. The people who claim to give relief package to poor masses everyday they throw bombs of inflation on them. Are consumers responsible for producing electricity from LNG?

Pointing to the current government she said that Destructive government has increased prices of electricity by Rs18 this year. In one year there has been nine times price hikes of electricity. Rs600 billion were looted from masses. Already, in the country the ratio of inflation has reached to 11.5 percent. The people worried of inflation shall not be overburdened.
