ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) increased the power tariff by Rs7.90 per unit on Thursday.

The increase has been made under the head of the fuel adjustment for the month of May. Moreover, the increase will also be applicable to the bills of July.

However, the increase will not be applied to the consumers of K-Electric.

The NEPRA had held public hearing of the plea for an increase of Rs7.96 per unit on June 27.

Despite the expensive electricity, the shortfall has increased to 6,819 megawatts. Up to 12-hour power shutdown is being observed in different areas of the country.
