NEPRA reserves verdict on govt plea for increasing power rate by Rs7.50 per unit

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Electronic Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Monday reserved the verdict on the government's plea for increasing the power rate by Rs7.50 per unit.

During the hearing, the WAPDA officials told the NEPRA that an Rs158 billion subsidy had been given to the lifeline consumers.

He said that the government was playing havoc with the industry by giving the subsidy to the domestic consumers.

The NEPRA chief said that it was decision of the government to be made by the government. "The burden of the subsidy will be shifted on other consumers," he maintained.

The NEPRA will send its decision to the government which will issue the notification.
