New spell of rain, snow starts across country

LAHORE (92 News) – A new spell of rain in plain areas and snow in northern areas started across the country on Wednesday. It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had predicted rain across the country and snow in the northern regions today. It has already started raining in Quetta, where some areas have received light shows. Widespread rain-thunderstorm is expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat and Mardan divisions, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir, while at scattered places in Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran, Sibi, Sukkur, Larkana,  Hyderabad, Karachi, Bannu, D.I Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, D.G Khan divisions during the next twelve hours. Snowfall over hills is also expected in Malakand division, Swat, Chitral, Kalam, Malam Jabba and upper Dir, Quetta division, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Minimum temperature of some major cities recorded this morning. Lowest temperature recorded in Skardu as -22 centigrade. Islamabad one degree centigrade, Lahore nine, Karachi sixteen, Peshawar and Quetta eight, Gilgit zero, Muzaffarabad three and Murree two degree centigrade. The Met department has also forecasted snow in Murree, Galyat, Swat, Chitral, Kalam, upper Dir, Hazara and Kohistan. Due to the rain and snow, weather across the country is expected to get colder. Scattered showers are also expected in Sindh’s Mirpurkhas and Thatta divisions. In the next two days it will rain in northern Punjab, Khyber Pakhunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan according to the weather department. Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and DG Khan are expected to receive showers, as are Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu and DI Khan. Snow is expected in Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan, Quetta and Kashmir.
Rain, snowfall add to chill across country
Earlier, Rain and snowfall made the weather more chilly in several cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A fresh spell of rain lashed Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Kasur. Islamabad also received drizzle, adding to the chill. On the other hand, mountainous areas, including Murree, Mansehra, Shogran, Balakot, Ziarat and Upper Dir received snowfall. Tourists were trapped due to blockage of roads. Locals said that they were facing numerous problems due to blockage roads. They also complained about electricity supply suspension for last two days. After the rain, power supply system collapsed in Lahore and Karachi. Hundreds of feeders tripped in both cities, depriving the people of power supply. Traffic flow was disrupted due to accumulation of rainwater on several roads. Citizens said that a sewerage line was laid a month ago, which collapsed due to substandard material. In Karachi, a hole appeared in a road in Liaquatabad area.
