ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdur Razzaq Dawood said that the new transshipment policy will promote foreign currency reserves and jobs. Talking to 92 News, he said that Pakistan will promote its trade through Gwadar port and other corridors. "It will bring in a revolution in investment, service, banking system and transport," he said. Abdur Razzaq Dawood said that a big door has been opened to introduce a new technology. "A significant change will be made in the cargo charges and corridor tax. A round-the-clock mechanized facility will be provided to shift cargo containers from one place to another," he added. The commerce adviser said that such a big facility was not provided to exporters and traders in the region. "The step will cause a historic increase in trade of Pakistan and the Central Asian and SAARC countries. Middle East countries will get a big share in maritime trade," he said. He said that Transshipment Department had been activated and its rules have been included in the Rules Finance Act 2020. "Commercial attaches have been directed to ensure the participation of the region's exporters and traders in the maritime trade," he added.
