New UN chief offers to mediate over Kashmir tensions

WASHINGTON (92 News) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has on Friday agreed play the role of a mediator between Pakistan and India over Kashmir issue.
Addressing a press briefing in Washington, spokesman for United Nations Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said that Antonio Guterres is keeping a close look at the different issues, adding that he is aware of situation in Kashmir.
The spokesman said that the UN secretary-general will soon will soon have a full conversation with the prime ministers of Pakistan and India.
Dujarric went on to say that Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi had briefed Antonio Guterres over Kashmir issue.
