HAMILTON (92 News) New Zealand beat Pakistan by 84 runs in the second ODI match, taking a decisive 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
While playing first, the New Zealand team scored 292 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
New Zealand wicketkeeper Mitchell Hay scored an unbeaten 99 runs off 78 balls, which included 7 sixes and 7 fours in his innings.
Chasing the target of 292 runs, Pakistan could only score 208 runs. Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah were the top scorers for Pakistan with 73 and 51 runs, respectively.
It is to be noted here that Pakistani captain Mohammad Rizwan had won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first.
The New Zealand openers gave a good start of 54 runs. The first wicket fell in the sixth over when Nick Kelly was dismissed by Haris Rauf for 31 runs.
In the 10th over, Rhys Mariu was dismissed by Wasim Jr for 18 runs. After that, Daryl Mitchell was dismissed for 18 runs and Henry Nicholls for 22 runs.
For the 5th wicket, Kiwi captain Michael Bracewell and Mohammad Abbas made a partnership of 30 runs. Bracewell was then dismissed for 17 runs by Mohammad Wasim Jr.
Mitchell Hay and Mohammad Abbas added 77 runs for the sixth wicket, and when Abbas returned to the pavilion in the 40th over, New Zealand's score was 209 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Mitchell Hay continued to bat aggressively and scored 24 runs in the last over, and the Kiwis' innings ended at 292 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Sufyan Muqim took 2 wickets each, while Faheem Ashraf, Akif Javed, and Haris Rauf took one wicket each.
It is worth mentioning here that New Zealand have taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
