MOUNT MAUNGANUI (Web Desk) New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 43 runs in the third and final ODI at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, securing a 3-0 series sweep.
The match, delayed by rain and shortened to 42 overs per side, saw New Zealand post 264/8, with half-centuries from Rhys Mariu (58) and captain Michael Bracewell (59). Bracewell’s aggressive knock included six sixes, and he was dismissed off the final ball of the innings.
Pakistan's chase faltered early, with Imam-ul-Haq forced to retire hurt after being struck on the jaw. Despite a steady 50 from Babar Azam and a fighting 37 from Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan were bowled out for 221 in 40 overs.
Ben Sears claimed 5/34, following his five-wicket haul in the previous game, while Jacob Duffy took 2/40 to help dismantle the visitors.
New Zealand's seam attack, led by Sears and Duffy, continued to dominate as Pakistan's batters struggled with the bounce and movement.
With this victory, New Zealand capped off a dominant series, having already won the first two matches by 73 and 84 runs, respectively.
Michael Bracewell was named Player of the Match for his scintillating knock, while Ben Sears was awarded Player of the Series for his 10 wickets.
Pakistan's captain Mohammad Rizwan acknowledged New Zealand's superior performance, vowing to improve ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Super League.
