WELLINGTON (Web Desk) New Zealand completed a dominant 4-1 series win over Pakistan with a resounding victory in the fifth and final T20I at Sky Stadium in Wellington.
Chasing a modest target of 129, the Kiwis reached their target in just 10 overs, winning by 8 wickets. Tim Seifert was the star with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 97 from just 38 balls, including 10 sixes and 6 boundaries.
Earlier, Pakistan posted a disappointing 128/9 in their 20 overs. Captain Salman Agha’s 51 was the only bright spot in an otherwise struggling batting display, as James Neesham’s career-best figures of 5/22 helped restrict Pakistan to a low total.
Neesham’s performance made him the second New Zealand bowler to take a fifer against Pakistan in T20Is.
In reply, Seifert and Finn Allen put on a blistering opening stand of 93 runs, with Allen contributing 27 off 12 balls. New Zealand comfortably cruised to the target, with Seifert finishing just three runs short of a well-deserved century.
The series victory comes after a comprehensive performance by New Zealand throughout the five-match series, with their bowlers consistently dominating and their batters, led by Seifert, in scintillating form.
Despite the defeat, Pakistan will look to regroup and focus on the upcoming ODI series, where they hope to bounce back with a stronger performance.
