KARACHI (92 News) – A newborn baby girl was burnt alive along with a ventilator when an intensive care unit (ICU) caught fire at Karachi’s National Institute of Child Health (NICH) on Thursday. According to the hospital sources, the ventilator had caught the fire. Investigations are underway to identify the reasons behind the fire. The NICH director said that the fire incident is an accident. “We share our sympathies with the parents of the baby,” A few days ago, fire incidents were occurred in the operation theatre of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and the nursery in the gynae ward of Jinnah Hospital. The newborn’s death has proved the negligence of the staff, raising several questions. “Why did the hospital administration conceal the incident? Whether the staff was on leave or in a deep slumber?
