No-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan succeeds with 174 votes

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan succeeded with 174 votes on Sunday.

The estranged PTI members did not participate in the voting. PDM chairman Maulana Fazalur Rehman also reached the House where he was accorded a rousing welcome. 

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif thanked all leaders for making the motion successful. "Efforts of millions of Pakistanis have been successful. I salute the unity shown by the opposition leaders," he added.

He said that today a new sun will rise. "We do not go into the bitterness of the past."

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardadri congratulated all members and the nation on the success of the no-confidence motion.  

Earlier, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq adjourned the session for two minutes. All the government walked out from the House.

On the orders of the Supreme Court, the NA proceedings started at 10:30am. The federal ministers and opposition leaders made speeches.

All the routes leading to the Red Zone were closed by erecting containers. Over 5,000 jawans of the police and Rangers have been deployed.
