LAHORE (92 News) - Consensus could not be evolved between Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi and Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz over the name of the caretaker chief minister.

On January 14, Punjab Governor Baleeghur Rehman had sent a letter to the chief minister and the opposition leader to hold consultation over the name of the caretaker chief minister.

The government alliance had proposed the names of Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera, Nasir Khosa and Naseer Khan for the caretaker chief minister and sent these names to the governor who later forwarded these names to the opposition leader. Nasir Khosa has refused to assume the responsibility.

On the other hand, Malik Ahmed Khan, representative of the opposition leader, held consultation with PM Shehbaz Sharif regarding the name of the caretaker chief minister.

He said that the names would be sent to the Punjab governor after consultation with Asif Zardari.

The matter will be sent to the parliamentary committee if consensus could not be reached over it.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif phoned PML-Q chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain and PDM chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman to hold consultation over the name of the caretaker chief minister.
