No state can ignore act of rebellion, anti-state remarks: Fawad

KARACHI (92 News) – Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said the federal government will not ignore the rebellion which took place and caused damage to public property and anti-state remarks made by protesters. Speaking to the journaliusts, the minister said that the protestors should not misunderstand that the state would forgive them. “The state’s behaviour wasn’t a cure but an act of ‘firefighting’ against the riots,” he added. Responding to the rioters who staged demonstrate against acquittal of Aasia Bibi in a blasphemy case, he said, “This is not a religious issue, it is an act of rebellion. No state can ignore rebellion.” “No one should have this wrong impression that the state will let this behaviour slide,” he said, adding that they will not ignore the incendiary speeches as well. He further remarked that if the government used force against the protestors, It could be risk of loss. Fawad Chaudhry launched a fresh tirade of attacks against Sindh government on Sunday and said that the province is being run by thieves. PPP leader Khursheed Shah gets upset whenever the PTI government speaks about thieves, he remarked. Chaudhry said that the PTI parliamentarians told him that they are being victimised by the Sindh government, adding that this type of behaviour is expected of the PPP. “Due to Imran Khan, Sindh came out of ethnic politics,” said the information minister. On the other hand responding to the statement of information minister, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Saeed Ghani criticised Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday, saying that he should know that the provinces are autonomous. The PPP leader’s statements came after the federal information minister accused the ruling party in Sindh of doing politics of vengeance. “The centre was held hostage for three days, where was Fawad Chaudhry then?” he said. “Centre and the other province made a government through lending but the PPP didn’t do so in Sindh,” he remarked. He further said that if Muttahida Qaumi Movement-P leader and mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar retreats then the PTI government will be in trouble. Earlier, Fawad Chaudhry had taken aim at the PPP, which has a ruling government in Sindh. “Due to Imran Khan, Sindh came out of ethnic politics,” the information minister had said.
