Nomination papers of Shehbaz Sharif, Omar Ayub Khan accepted for slot of prime minister

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and PTI secretary general Omar Ayub Khan on Saturday submitted the nomination papers for the slot of the prime minister.

The PML-N and allies submitted eight nomination papers to the National Assembly secretary. After the scrutiny, the nomination papers of both candidates have been accepted.

Voting for the Leader of the House will be held on Sunday.

The winner will have to secure at least 169 votes. However, the PML-N and allies have a clear-cut majority in the House.

Talking to the media, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said that the nomination papers of Shehbaz Sharif have been accepted. "We did not raise any objection to the nomination of Omar Ayub Khan. However, the PTI has been raising a hue and cry over the results of each election," he added.

PML-N leader Attaullah Tarar said that they want to promote democracy. "We have to embark on a new journey after ending bitterness. I hope that the PTI will also play a positive role. However, no one be allowed to do the politics of anarchy," he added.
