LAHORE (92 News) – The newly-appointed IGP Punjab Rao Sardar has said that non-registration of a case is also a crime.

Talking to the media on Tuesday, he said that the rape cases accused should be punished immediately. "The biggest problem in the police department is attitude. There will be no leniency for people shirking from work and the corrupt," he maintained.

The IGP Punjab said that they would adopt the modern research method to control the crime. "A change in the 'thana' culture is my priority. We will remove shortcomings of the police. No officer will be transferred unnecessarily," he added.

Meanwhile, IG Police Sardar Ali Khan called on Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar at his office and vowed to take every step to improve the police system, adding that merit and requirements of justice will be fulfilled.

The CM issued instructions to him for further improving the law and order situation in the province, adding that indiscriminate action be initiated against criminals while accepting no pressure. "The people have a lot of expectations from the police and supremacy of merit and law be ensured as protection of life and property of the people is a fundamental duty of the police," he added.
