Noor Muqadam murder case: Main accused Zahir Jaffar handed down death

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Additional Sessions Judge Justice Atta Rabbani, while announcing the reserved verdict, handed down the death penalty to the main accused Zahir Jaffar in the Noor Muqadam murder case on Thursday.

The court also sentenced the accused Jan Muhammad and Iftikhar to 10 years each. However, all acccused, including Zahir Jaffar's parents and Therapy Works employees, were acquitted.

Shaukat Muqaddam, main accused Zahir Jaffar and all other accused were presented in the court when the verdict was announced.

The case was tried for four months and eight days. The statements of 19 witnesses were recorded. After arguments, the court had reserved the verdict on Februray 22.

Former ambassador Shaukat Muqaddam’s daughter Noor Muqadam was brutally murdered on July 20. The police arrested Zahir Jaffar from the site.
