ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan granted post-arrest bail to the mother of Zahir Jaffar, the main accused in the Noor Muqadam murder case, on Monday.

The court ordered to release his mother after furnishing surety bonds worth Rs one million. However, the court rejected the bail plea of accused's father. Moreover, the trial court ordered to complete the legal proceedings without affecting the High Court orders.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the bail pleas. Khawaja Haris, counsel for the accused, stated that Zakir Jaffar and Ismat Adamjee were not named in the case. "After the statement of the prime suspect to the police, his parents were nominated in the case. The accused face the charges of hiding the murder," he contended.

Justice Umar Atta Bandial ruled that the involvement of accused's mother could not be proved. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah questioned on which grounds the bail should be given keeping in view all aspects of the gruesome murder. Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin observed that the accused's attitude after the incident could also be judged.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah asked about the situation of the trial. At this, the advocate general told court that indictment of the accused had been done and there is direction to complete the trial in eight weeks.
