Normal gas supply, pressure being restored to all sectors, says Hammad

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar announced on Monday that the government has restored normal gas supply and pressure to all sectors.

It is pertinent to mention here that various sectors, especially the industrial units of the country, were reeling from a gas shortage over the past few days.

In a tweet today, Azhar announced forced load-shedding had ended on Friday.  "Today we are restoring normal gas supply and pressures to all sectors. RLNG supplies 100% restoration achieved," he tweeted.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar has said that the shortfall had occurred due to a reduction in power generation at Tarbela Dam and electricity and gas situation would improve by Monday.

Talking to the media on Friday, he said that LNG was being offloaded from the ship.

"We have not operated the power plants on furnace oil. Some people have tried to do politics on loadshedding. Up to 12-hour shutdown was observed during their tenures," he said.

The minister claimed that projects of 26,000 megawatts are going to be completed in next eight years. "Presently, there is a record of power demand because the industry is running with vigour," he said.

He said that there was a monthly circular debt of Rs 400 billion when they assumed power and it had been reduced to Rs 177 billion.
