North Waziristan blast: martyred army officers laid to rest

MIRAN SHAH (92 News) – Army personnel who embraced martyrdom in an IED blast in Kharqamar area of North Waziristan a day earlier were laid to rest on their native areas with full military honours today. Lieutenant Colonel Raashid Karim Baig was laid to rest in his hometown of Hunza in Gilgit-Baltistan, Radio Pakistan reported. Earlier, Governor Gilgit Baltistan Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon, Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman and other high official besides military official attended funeral prayers in Gilgit. G-B Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon, Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman and senior military officials attended the funeral. Similarly, Captain Arif Ullah was laid to rest with full military honours in his native area of Lakki Marwat, while Soldier Mohsin Ali was laid to rest in his hometown of Jaranwala. Earlier, a large number of people from all walks of life attended his Nama-e-Janaza. Soldier Mohsin Ali was also laid to rest with full military honor at his hometown in Jaranwala on Saturday. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented salute to the martyr.
Three officers among four soldiers martyred in IED blast in Kharkamar
A day earlier, three officers and a jawan of Pak Army were martyred in an IED blast in Kharkamar, North Wazirstan. According to a press release issued by the ISPR, terrorists had targeted a military vehicle through an IED planted on the road. Four soldiers were also injured in the blast.
The martyred officers include Lt Col Raashid Karim Baig of Karimabad, Hunza, Major Moeez Maqsood Baig of Karachi, Captain Arifullah of Lakki Marwat and Lance Havaldar Zaheer of Chakwal. It is the same area where forces had conducted search operations and arrested few facilitators of terrorists. During last one month, 10 security personnel have been martyred, while 35 injured.
