ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has issued a notification about the increase in the prices of gas for domestic consumers with effect from July 1, 2019. According to the notification, hike in the gas prices were 198 per cent for the domestic consumers, 31 per cent for CNG including other categories and 62 per cent for the fertilizers. Meanwhile, it has made no increase in the gas price for consumers falling in the first slab of domestic sector consuming less than 50 cubic metres per month. The rate for the second domestic slab (50-100 cubic metres) has been increased to Rs300, from the existing Rs127 per MMBTU. Moreover, it has raised the rate for consumers using 100-200 cubic metres per month from the existing Rs264 per MMBTU, to Rs530. The next slab of 201-300 cubic metres per month has been increased to Rs738 per MMBTU, from the current Rs275. For consumers using more than 400 cubic metres per month, the rate has been raised to Rs1,107 per MMBTU from Rs780. The minimum bill has been fixed at Rs172.58 with revised tariffs per month. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e109uVai66U On May 18, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) approved 32 per cent increase in the prices of gas for the fiscal year 2019-2020. According to the officials of petroleum division, gas price for the Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) consumers has been increased by Rs237 per MMBTU, While, gas price for the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has been increased by Rs160 per MMBTU. It said that OGRA has approved 4 to 32 per cent hike in tariff of gas for house consumers. He said a final decision regarding increase in gas prices would be made after approval from the federal government. He said public hearings were held on requests by the gas supplying companies in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta. The OGRA has proposed hike in gas prices from July 1. The gas prices will be applied following a notification of the government. The spokesperson for the OGRA said the increment in gas prices has been made for financial year 2019-20.
