Nurses’ protest for their demands enters on 8th day in Karachi
KARACHI (92 News) – The protest of nurses, for their demands, has entered on eighth day in Karachi today.
According to the details garnered, the nurses held protest for raise in salary and allowances. The protesters has started marching towards Sindh Chief Minister’s House after which, the security personnel have blocked the route with containers.
However, the lady officers and water cannons are also present on the spot to avoid any untoward situation.
The Nurses Alliance continued their protest for their demand for 8th day in Karachi. They announced to besiege the Sindh CM House if their demands were not fulfilled.
OPDs in govt hospitals remain closed against MTI Act for 5th in Punjab
On the other hand, the Out Patient Departments (OPDs) remained closed in all government hospitals due to the strike of doctors, nurses and paramedics against the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Reform Act across the province. Patients and their attendants coming from far-off areas faced difficulties for treatment due to closure of the OPDs. YDA Punjab Chairman Dr Shoaib said that MTI was a law against the interests of the medical and paramedical staff which would also hike the healthcare facilities. He added it would cause severe financial constraints to the employees and expressed that their strike would continue unless MTI was taken back.Police arrest protesting nurses after baton charge in Karachi
On May 2, Police arrested many protesting nurses after baton charge near Sindh Chief Minister’s House in outside the Press Club in Karachi.
It is worth mentioning here that the nurses were protesting outside the Press Club for increase in salaries and allowances. The protest of nurses entered in fourth day as they started to march towards the CM House when police stopped them and baton charge.
The Press Club chowk turned into war zone after the clash between nurses and security forces in the metropolis. However, the police arrested many nurses and staff after the baton charge. The officers also manhandled the protesters and arrested some of them.
