OIC has accepted Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir: FM Qureshi
JEDDAH (92 News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the Organization of Islamic Countries (IOC) has accepted the stance of Pakistan on Kashmir.
Talking to 92 News after the emergency meeting of OIC Contact Group on Kashmir in Jeddah on Tuesday, he said that some colleagues in the opposition do not apprehend the seriousness of the matter.
“It is not a mistake to include 35A and 370 in the resolution. Had the opposition expressed grace and not indulge in point scoring a good message would have been conveyed,” he said.
He said that the OIC recognizes that this aggression puts more than 1.5 billion people of South Asia at risk. “I reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the peaceful resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute and that India’s hostility doesn’t give me much hope for a covenant for peace.”
Earlier addressing the emergency meeting of OIC Contact Group on Kashmir, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that revocation of Article 370 and 35-A by Indian parliament Lok Sabha, is a clear violation of international laws.
He said about one hundred thousand Kashmiris have been martyred by Indian forces in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir since 1989.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that about 22,000 Kashmiri women became widowed, 108,000 children orphaned and 12,000 women were raped in Occupied Kashmir.
He said that India's sending more troops, closure of educational institutions and imposition of emergency like measures by India in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which is the most militarized area in the world, was indicating intentions of India.
The minister said that he had apprised the United Nations Security Council and General Secretary OIC about the apprehensions of Pakistan regarding the measures and steps taken by India. “India's steps taken in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir can endanger peace in South Asia.”
He urged the participants of the meeting to pay immediate attention towards this issue.
The delegations of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and other member countries participated in the meeting. The Pakistani delegation was led by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
