OIC Secy General meets UN Secy General; expresses concern over brutalities in IHK

NEW YORK (92 News) – Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani called on United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon at the UN Headquarters and expressed concern over the brutalities of the Indian forces in the Occupied Kashmir. During the meeting, the OIC Secretary-General highlighted the issue of Kashmir issue including grave human rights violations by the occupation forces in Indian-held Kashmir. He demanded the UN Secretary General to use its influence to stop the Indian atrocities in Kashmir. Madani further renewed support to the right of self-determination for Kashmiri people and said it was an international and legitimate issue. Previously, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group held a meeting on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly last week to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group meeting was chaired by Secretary General Iyad Amin. During the meeting, the Secretary General expressed concern over the grave situation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and called for an immediate cessation of Indian oppression and atrocities. He said that the Indian forces can use pellet guns on innocent Kashmiris but they cannot deprive them of right to self determination. On the occasion, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that India didn’t respond to any attempt to resolution of Kashmir dispute.
