KARACHI (92 News) – An oil tanker – filled with 15,000 litres of oil – overturned at the National Highway in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Karachi on Wednesday. According to the details garnered, the oil tanker loaded with oil overturned due to over-speeding and spilling 15,000 litres of oil on the road. The police, fire brigade and rescue teams reached at the spot after getting information about the incident. They blocked one track of the National Highway to avoid any untoward incident while the other track remained open for the traffic. The driver of the oil tanker managed to escape from the scene while the cleaner of the tanker was arrested by police. With the help of heavy machinery the oil tanker was removed from the scene and the oil was also transferred into other tanker, said the traffic police. The affected track will be opened for the traffic soon after clearing the oil that spilled on the road. According to rescue sources, no casualty was reported in the accident. Earlier, a six-year-old girl was killed while five others injured when an oil tanker smashed into a house near Darul Aloom in Korangi area. The tanker driver managed to escape, while the police have seized the tanker. The locals rescued Naureen and the injured on self-help basis. They broke the glasses of the tanker. They told the police that the driver was under the influence. They also resisted to the police when the police reached there to take the custody of the tanker.
