ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for power Omar Ayub Khan held former governments of Pakistan People Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) responsible for shortage of electricity and gas crisis. Taking the floor of National Assembly, Omar Ayub said that all the attention of the PML-N and the PPP was on TTs system, so they could not provide relief to the people. “The PTI government is suffering due to the incompetence of previous governments,” he added The minister said gas pressure is low and the perpetrators are the PML-N and the PPP. “PM Imran Khan fulfilled his promise of ending loadshedding of electricity and gas. Sindh’s reservations regarding gas are not correct. CNG stations will be fully restored by next month,” he mentioned. Omar Ayub said that those members of PPP and PML-N who are pointing fingers at government’s performance should seek answers from current opposition leader who is on vacations. He rejected Sindh’s governments take on gas shortages and said that residents of all provinces have equal rights and PPP government didn’t pay right of wage which increased suffering of public. Earlier, Minister for Power Omar Ayub said said that the electricity prices increased due to the previous governments. He said while addressing along with Special Assistant on Petroleum Nadeem Babar at a news conference, he said that during the PML-N tenure the electricity generation became as expensive as Rs 17 per unit, the minister said. The minister announced that the government has approved renewable energy policy 2019 with the aim to produce cheap and clean energy by using indigenous resources. He was confident that generation from renewable sources will help bring down the power tariff in future. He regretted that the PML-N installed expensive power through the LNG plants. Giving the targets set in the policy, Omer Ayub said that eight thousand megawatts of power will be produced from renewable sources including solar and wind by 2025 and twenty thousand megawatts by 2030. He said that this does not include the hydel generation and if it is also included the share of clean and green energy will be sixty to sixty five percent.
