Omar Sarfraz Cheema denotified as Punjab governor

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Omar Sarfraz Cheema has denotified as Punjab governor.

The Cabinet Division has issued a notification for the removal of Omar Sarfraz. The Governor of Punjab was removed from his office under Article 48 of the Constitution. The Speaker of the Punjab Assembly will be the Acting Governor of Punjab.

According to notification, Governor of Punjab was de-notified on the expiry of the summary period. After the removal of Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, his security was also removed. According to Punjab government sources, Omar Sarfraz Cheema is no longer the governor so he is not being given security.

According to police sources, if Omar Sarfraz Cheema came to the Governor House, he would not be allowed to enter without permission. A heavy contingent of police was deployed outside the Governor House.
