KARACHI (92 News) – Rain inundated most of the roads in Karachi on Saturday.

Water on the city's main highways also made travel difficult. Flooding of low-lying areas as well as streets have begun to look like drains and canals.

Rain water accumulated at several places,  including Sharah-e- Faisal, Sarjani, Nagan Chowrangi, Liaqatabad, Qayyumabad and  Haidari. Garbage heaps in various parts of the city are rotting due to rain water, which makes it difficult for citizens to breathe. Citizens said that the government did not make any preparations. They said that rain becomes a nuisance due to administrative negligence.

The highest rainfall of 81mm was recorded in Saadi Town and 73 mm in Gulshan-e-Hadid.

On the other hand, four people, including a girl, were electrocuted.

In many areas of Malir, North Nazimabad, Quaidabad, Kala Board, Shah Faisal, Landhi and Korangi, power outages have not been restored yet.

Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab visited different areas of Karachi last night and inspected the drainage works. He directed the local body staffs to immediately remove the accumulated water on the roads. Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh reached Khamisobrohi Goth affected by rain. He continued to show garbage and dirty water in various places. He said that the administrator of Karachi only conducted a photo sessions. "He should come to these areas and see the situation," he added.
