One killed in violence as counting of votes continues in NA-240

KARACHI (92 News) - A man was killed while several others injured in violence during the by-election to NA-240 on Thursday.

Workers of different parties clashed with each other at several polling stations. Violent workers pelted each other with stones. Unknown people took away ballot boxes during the violence.

Ballot papers were stolen from Jinnah School polling station. The police and Rangers contingents patrolled the areas to main the law and order.

PSP chairman Mustafa Kamal said that the TLP workers had attacked their workers after seeing their defeat. He said that shots were fired at the vehicle of Anees Qaimkhani and the main office of the PSP.

MQM leader Aminul Haque said that over a dozen workers were injured during attacks on the polling stations.

A very low turnout was witnessed during the polling. A tough contest is likely among the candidates of the MQM, the PPP, PSP and Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan. The PTI and the Jamaat-e-Islami have boycotted the elections.
