Online portal introduced for assets inquiry

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) officials announced on Friday that now the details of taxpayers can be seen online and online portal has been introduced for the inquiry of assets. This was stated by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman Shabbar Zaidi, State Minister Hammad Azhar along with the NADRA officials during addressing the press conference. Addressing the press conference in Islamabad, both the leaders have announced that NADRA has introduced an online portal for the inquiry of assets. “The portal will not allow anyone to have access on the data of other person,” they added. The FBR chairman said that the purpose of online portal is to monitor the details of taxpayers. He also explained that the NADRA will only provide the information, saying, “Collection of taxes is our task. The tax only can be collected when the information is available for the government officials.” Shabbar Zaidi also clarified that the deadline for amnesty scheme would not be extended from June 30. “We have no aim to threat anyone and the assessment notice will not be issued on the base of data,” he said. On the occasion, Hammad Azhar said that the FBR has data of more than 50 million citizens and the tax system would be improved through websites.
