ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam is their need, not the need of army.

Talking to foreign media on Saturday, he said that afresh alignment is mandatory in response to recent terrorism. “The operation will be conducted on intelligence basis,” he added.

Khawaja Asif said that the government faces no threat from the release of the PTI founder. “I do not think the PTI founder will take PM Shehbaz Sharif’s offer for talks seriously. But the government is ready for talks.”

He said that the establishment will not object to the political forces’ effort to find out a solution for the betterment of the country.

The minister said that their experiment of bringing 4,000-5,000 people linked to Taliban after dialogues had failed. “We hoped that the Afghan government will cooperate with us. However, it does not seem to be starting an operation against militants it is their allies,” he maintained.
