ISLAMABAD (92 News) - PML-N senior leader Ahsan Iqbal said that the opposition is not demanding any NRO-like concessions from Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. The PML-N leader said while talking to the journalists outside the accountability court where he appeared in relation to the Narowal Sports City reference. "None is asking about NRO from the prime minister. The prime minister gave only an NRO to the sugar mafia," Ahsan Iqbal said. It is pertinent to mention here that the PML-N leader’s statement came in response to PM Imran Khan’s remarks FATF-related bills in Senate. "The opposition will not oppose legislation regarding to national interests. The anti-graft watchdog body could not file reference against him from one year. The opposition leaders did not defeat the FATF bills in the Senate. “We defeated the system that the government wanted to bulldoze, he added. Court asks NAB for delay in filing of reference On the other hand, an accountability court adjourned the Narowal Sports City case against PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal and others until September 22. Accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir allowed the former federal minister and other accused to appear in court at their own will until the NAB files a reference in the case. Over the course of the hearing, Ahsan Iqbal’s lawyer slammed the NAB saying it has failed to file a reference despite arresting his client who remained in the bureau’s custody and was later sent to prison on judicial remand. He said the NAB chairman also failed to come up with explanation on delay in filing the reference. The judge asked the NAB prosecutor as to why the reference against Ahsan Iqbal was not filed yet, to which he replied that the reference was sent to Headquarters for approval and will be filed once it is approved.
