Opposition offers prayers before NA speaker’s dais for first time in history
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Opposition leaders on Wednesday offered prayers before the National Assembly (NA) speaker’s dais for the first time in history.
According to the details, the opposition protested after they were not allowed to present a resolution in the NA. Finance Minister Asad Umar presented the Finance Supplementary Bill (second Amendment) Bill 2019 at that times the opposition recorded their protest.
The opposition held protest in front of the NA speaker’s dais. The NA Speaker Asad Qaiser had announced the break for namaz.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader Asad Mahmood started leading the prayers in front of the speaker’s dais. The prayers were joined by Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders. Mahmood had earlier asked the House speaker permission to present resolution.
This was the first time that leaders prayed together in the Assembly. The opposition leaders wanted to present a resolution against federal minister Faisal Vawda, but the speaker passed the mic to Finance Minister Asad Umar to present a bill before the house.
The opposition protested the move, with Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari among those protesting.
NA passes Finance Supplementary Bill 2019
On the other hand, the National Assembly passed “The Finance Supplementary (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019” with majority vote amid rumpus and walk-out by the opposition.
The bill envisaged revolutionary incentives and measures to encourage investment, exports, ease of doing business and strengthen important sectors of the national economy.
Finance Minister Asad Umar has expressed the resolve that the government will make every decision in the best interest of the people of Pakistan to ensure peace and development.
