Opposition's APC underway in Murree to discuss presidential election

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – An all parties conference (APC) of the opposition parties chaired by Pakistan Muslim League-N President Shahbaz Sharif has started in Murree. It is holding consultations to bring a joint candidate of the opposition for the elections of the president to be held on the fourth of next month. During the meeting, the consultations were taken by all the parties regarding opposition's unanimous candidate for the Presidential elections. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has already nominated Arif Alvi for the office of President. President Mamnoon Hussain's five-year term is set to expire on ninth of next month. Besides PML (N), it is being attended by the PPP, MMA and Awami National Party. During the APC, the matters related to joint candidate for the presidential election and the policy will be reviewed for alleged rigging in the recently held election. On the other hand, PML-N leader Pervez Rasheed said that the party would consider the name of PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan for the post of president if he visits Adiala prison and apologises to Nawaz Sharif for his remarks. Talking to the outside of Adiala jail, the former information minister said that that the party holding consultations with other opposition parties and wants a joint opposition candidate for the election. The tensions between the two opposition parties enraged after the PPP refused to vote for the PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif in the Aug 17 election for the post of prime minister because of his controversial statements against the PPP leadership in the past.
