Opposition parties call for APC, Parliament’s joint session on Yemen issue

  KARACHI (92 News) – Political leaders from the MQM, ANP, Balochistan National Party (Awami), JUI-F and other opposition parties on Wednesday called for Parliament’s joint session and All Parties Conference (APC) on the Yemen issue. The meeting chaired by Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari at the Bilawal House discussed Pakistan’s role in supporting Saudi-led Yemen offensive. The leaders unanimously agreed to call an APC to discuss the issue. Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar, Syed Sardar Ahmed, Allama Rashid Mehmood Soomro, Shahi Syed and Israrullah Zahri among others participated. Former president Asif Ali Zardari said any decision on Pakistan’s involvement in the Yemen conflict must be taken by taking all parties into confidence. However, no representative of the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf participated in the meeting.
