ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The opposition on Saturday rejected the increase in the gas price. Senator Sherry Rehman said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had recommended a 45 percent increase in the prices of gas. “The decision will burden the masses with an additional amount of Rs175 billion,” she said. Sherry Rehman said that the rulers were asking the people not to worry after giving them the Ramazan package. Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the increase in the gas price. “Niazi Sahib’s incompetence has made the country’s economy worst in Asia,” he said. Shehbaz Sharif demanded that the hike in the gas price should be withdrawn immediately. “How will the people survive after a hefty increase in the prices of gas, electricity and daily-use items?” he questioned. He demanded that the minimum salary should be raised to Rs30,000 and the salary class should be given the minimum relief of Rs10,000. “The Niazi government has totally failed in running the government affairs,” he said. The PML-N president was of the view that there would be a threat to security if continued to sink this way. “The time is telling that Niazi Sahib can only call people’s names,” he said. He said that patriotic forces would have to think the restoration of the economy would be a miracle if continued to sink this way. “The country and nation cannot bear further pressure,” he concluded.
