SIALKOT (92 News) – Special Assistant on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the opposition showed maturity and tolerance on the matter of Army Amendment Act Bill 2020. Addressing a ceremony in Sialkot, the special expressed the hope that the government and the opposition will come together in Parliament to pass the amendments so that Pakistan can progress. “A few members of the opposition have complained that they have not been taken into confidence regarding these amendments. However, I am hopeful that an issue that is attached to our national safety and interest, will not be politicized,” Firdous Ashiq Awan mentioned. The special assistant also maintained that the national institutions should not be politicized because they don’t relate with any single political party. She revealed that Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi will give a policy statement in the Senate on Monday (tomorrow) on the government’s stance on recent events in the region and the future course of action.
