Opposition slams govt for sacking PSM employees during Senate session
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The opposition senators slammed the government for sacking Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) employees in a session of the Senate held on Friday.
While addressing a session of Senate, PML-N’s Senator Mushahidullah said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had said in the past that he would demonstrate to everyone how the steel mills can be properly run. “The government should not go back on its promise to not privatize the entity,” he added.
Senator Mushahidullah also demanded the resignation from planning minister Asad Umar, adding that Asad Umar had also gone back on his word to the employees of the steel mills.“The government cannot rid itself of responsibilities by blaming its predecessors,” he maintianed.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq criticised the government and questioned how it could sack employees of the steel mills when it had promised to provide one million jobs to the people.
On the other hand, the Senate unanimously passed a resolution expressing serious concerns over Indian barbaric atrocities and human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK).
The resolution moved by Leader of Opposition Raja Zafarul Haq strongly condemned the extra judicial killing of thirteen unarmed Kashmiris in occupied territory the other day. It demanded immediate action from the UN Secretary General.
The resolution declared fullest support to the cause of plebiscite in occupied Jammu and Kashmir which it said is the only peaceful and democratic way of solving this burning issue.
The house will now meet on Monday at four pm.
